Aden (Haden) Stone - Intertwined Series by Gena Showalter

When we first meet Aden in Intertwined, he's fighting zombies.  What's not to love, right?  He won my heart right then and there.  He's tall and strong, has dyed black hair with two inches of blonde roots, carries daggers in his boots and oh yeah, he has four souls living in his head.  He is also a magnet for all this paranormal.  His girlfriend is a vampire and his best friend is a Drainer (she feeds off the power and magic from other supernatural beings, ultimately killing them when she is done).  Even with all that he goes through in these first three books, he remains a caring, compassionate person.  That above all else is why he is one of my favorite book boys.

Can I also just say that I am in love with the cover of Twisted?

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I feel so bad.  I have been so busy making bracelets today that I haven't picked up my book all day!  I have about 50 pages left of Killer (Pretty Little Liars #6) to finish and then I have Twisted by Gena Showalter and Children of Paranoia by Trevor Shane out from the library, with Die for Me by Amy Plum and The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder on the way.  I need to get reading!!

Book #77

Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book!  Everything about it!  I loved getting to know Sydney better (although I could have done without the two pages of her complaining about being a size 4 instead of a size 2), I loved that we got to know Jill and Eddie better and see a different side of Adrian.  And that ending?!?!  I cannot wait for the next book!!

Book #76

But I Love HimBut I Love Him by Amanda Grace
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's kind of hard to give a book about an abusive relationship 4 stars but this book is so well written and captivating, I can't give it any less.  It's written in reverse chronological order, so you get the worst of the relationship right at the start and it just keeps tearing at your heart until the very last page.  It is a very sad and disturbing story and as the author has stated, having told the story this way, you can only sit back and observe while the events that led up to the abuse unfold.

The Boys of Sarah Dessen Part 2.....The Bad Boys

Not all of Sarah Dessen's boys are gems.  A few of them, although charming they may be, are just bad news.  This is my list of The Boys To Stay Away From:

Sumner Lee from That Summer- He's happy, joyful and always looks on the bright side, but don't let the that fool you.  He's a cheater.

Macon Faulkner from Someone Like You - He's a dangerous, rebellious bad boy and oh so charming.  But he gets a little too mad if he doesn't get his way.  He's the type that will do something super sweet for you one day and then blow you off the next. (totally the guy I would have dated in High School) Unfortunately it isn't until you get to now him that his true colors come through.

Jake Stock from Along for the Ride - Although he isn't a lead boy, he still deserves mention on this list. Jake is a player and a flirt and should be avoided at all costs.

Rogerson Biscoe from Dreamland - At first glance Rogerson seems like any other bad boy you may come across.  But he is so, so much worse.  He has curls that look like dreadlocks and is described as very attractive and charming. But, Rogerson is a drug dealer who is abused by his father. In turn he is then emotionally and physically abusive so it is hard to have any sympathy for him.  He is by far the worst of SD's boys.

Thankfully, when it comes to Sarah Dessen's boys, the good far outnumber the bad!!

The Boys of Sarah Dessen Part 1....The Good Guys

Sarah Dessen has written some of my favorite book boys ever (at least out of the human boys).  Here's a little breakdown of the most swoon worthy:

Norman from Keeping the Moon- Norman is an "art freak." He is shy and kind. He kind of has a hippy thing going for him with his shoulder length hair and laid back attitude. He collects sunglasses and has a collection of paintings he done based on them.

Dexter Jones from This Lullaby -  Lead singer of Truth Squad (which automatically makes him attractive), he’s cute, tall, skinny and gangly with dark curly hair.  He’s sociable, carefree, kindhearted, sweet, smart, funny. But at the same time clumsy, disorganized and outright ridiculous. He was the first of SD's boys to find his way into my heart.

Wesley "Wes" Baker from The Truth About Forever - Tattooed, reformed semi-bad bad, Wes is a runner and a sculptor who welds scarp metal into beautiful pieces of art.  He has model good looks and seems to be pretty unapproachable until you get to know him and realize that he is actually a sarcastic, down to earth guy with a huge heart. He is one of my favorites SD boy.

Owen Armstrong from Just Listen: Another of my faves, Owen is music obsessed, broody boy, who is a loner with is own radio show. He's another reformed bad boy, thanks to Anger Management.  He's described as “tall (6’4”) and muscular, with broad shoulders and thick biceps. And he always wore boots with thick rubber soles that made him seem even bigger, his steps heavier." Underneath his tough exterior, Owen is incredibly caring, thoughtful, and sweet.

Nate Cross from Lock and Key - Nate is literally the boy next door. He is friendly, popular, and optimistic. Nate is described as having blonde hair, and being "cute, but in a rich-boy way.  He's got bright blue eyes with long lashes and a million dollar smile.  He is "compulsively friendly". But don't let that fool you, Nate has he's own demons he's trying to deal with.

Eli Stock from Along for the Ride: Tortured by the guilt over the accident that killed his best friend, Eli is a slightly mysterious, coffee loving insomniac who is smart and a good friend and listener.  He uses his love of bike riding to pull himself out of the dark place he is in.

Dave Wade from What Happened to Goodbye - Exceptionally smart, sweet and a little bit awkward, Dave has dark wavy hair that he keeps tucked away under a knit cap, and bright blue eyes.  He is a genuine nice guy with a dry sense of humor.

Stay tuned for The Boys of Sarah Dessen Part 2.....The Bad Boys (or The Boys To Stay Away From)!!
